l  設計理念

1884年10月在淡水爆發的清法戰爭滬尾之役，至今已過去百多年，此處鄰近當時清軍部署於淡水河畔的水雷營。

傳達著和平意涵的「愛與和平之鴿」，停駐在一顆顆象徵清軍水雷的雕塑球體上，身上的紅、白、藍色，象徵自由、平等、博愛，鮮豔的黃色在此則隱喻清軍的黃龍旗，也是皇帝色系的代表。

期望透過水雷傳達戰爭的痕跡、鴿子則象徵現代的和平，使觀者在回望過往的同時，也能展望未來，擁抱和平而幸福的現代。

l  歷史表現說明

1884年清法戰爭滬尾之役爆發，法軍由沙崙海岸登陸進攻，主要目標為攻佔水雷營，引爆河口阻隔線之水雷，以清除法艦進入淡水之障礙，讓法軍能長驅直入。當歷史已經遠去，愛與和平之鴿停駐在象徵水雷的雕塑與圖騰上，靜靜望著寧靜的水面。

l  Artist’s Statement

One of the targets of French landed forces in the Battle of Tamsui was to seize the Naval Mine Camp so that French troops would be able to drive straight in. With the historical event getting further and further away, doves of love and peace stop over the sculpture and pattern that symbolize naval mines, looking at the peaceful sea quietly.
